Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I hope that everyone has a great day today with friends, family and the like. May you enjoy good company and great food. There is a lot that we all have to be thankful for.

This year, I get the honors of the family sweet potatoes. In years past, my grandmother would make these candied sweet potatoes that were pretty much cooked to death and so sticky sweet you had to get a few spoons more! Where this isn’t the worlds greatest, it is darned good. I’m going to share this recipe. The family secret is out!! Though, it’s so simple and basic…it’s almost embarrassing!!!

Candied Sweet Potatoes

Peel and cut several sweet potatoes into cubes. Make however much you want. However, keep in mind that the cubes will shrink as they cook. Par boil the potatoes so that a knife moves through the cubes but they do not fall apart. They’ll cook more in the oven…so a little undone is just fine. Drain and move the potatoes to a large casserole dish. Sprinkle the potatoes with brown sugar (I prefer shaking a ton on top), maple syrup, and dot the top of the dish with butter. I put a stick in at minimum. Bake at 350 until the butter, maple, and brown sugar create a sticky coating over the potatoes.

Pace yourself on this side…Too much and you might not want dessert!!!

Have a great day everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving to all who read this! If you have read this, drop a comment with your favorite family Thanksgiving foods.
